Dorian was the oldest of the five Kutsuki children. Their parents were both regarded highly in the Japanese community of their small American town. Dorian's father was a local pastor and his mother stayed home to take care of him and his siblings.

As a child, Dorian stood out a lot due to not really fitting into the stereotypical straight boy mold. After several too many stern talking to's from his father, he learned to repress many of his oddities.

When he turned seventeen, his father started heavily encouraging him to take over his position as pastor, once he retired. Dorian would go to the nearby community college in pursuit of a theology degree. Yet he was absolutely miserable. He had no friends, let alone a romantic interest and didn't even know who he really was. This resulted in a continuingly strained relationship with both of his parents and a feeling of detachedness from his siblings.
